Amor und die Zeit / Cupid and the passing Time - German Baroque Music from Hammerschmidt to Telemann

German Baroque Music from Andreas Hammerschmidt to Georg Philipp Telemann

Love is and was at all times the great theme of poetry and music. Yet there is not only the time before Cupid's arrow finds its target, there is also the time after: How long does love stay? What happens in the day to day? This concert offers humorous and serious advice from composers from the 17 and 18th centuries, to welcome the month of May!

At the center of the program are instrumental and vocal works by Andreas Hammerschmidt (1611-1675), Baroque organist and composer from Zittau, Germany. Forming a more complete picture of the time surrounding Hammerschmidt, we present works from Hans Leo Haßler (1564-1612), Johann Hermann Schein (1586-1630) and Georg Philipp Telemann (1681–1767).
