Vincent Kibildis
Vincent Kibildis is a harpist specializing in harps of the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and the Baroque. Vincent’s musical education began at six years old on the Celtic harp, focusing mainly on Scottish and Irish traditional music. The continuous search for new sounds and new ways of musical expression led Vincent to Early Music, and subsequently to studies at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, as well as the Escuela Superior de Música de Cataluña. From these institutions Vincent obtained a bachelor’s and master’s degree in historical performance practice.
Since the first encounters with Early Music, Vincent is interested in historical systems of musical notation, the tensions between the notated and the unwritten, between oral and improvisatory practices. In collaboration with various ensembles Vincent regularly creates transcriptions and editions of ancient works and is invested in exploring the role of the single-strung (diatonic, or semi-diatonic) harp in the sixteenth century and beyond. As a harpist Vincent works regularly with ensembles such as Astrophil & Stella, Concerto Foscari, Les Cris de Paris, Ensemble Phoenix Munich, Ensemble Polyharmonique, Musica Fiata, and La Tempête.
