Theona Gubba-Chkheidze
Theona Gubba-Chkheidze performed at the age of eight as a violinist and singer with the girls' band “Mziuri” in the then USSR and Europe. After studying violin at the University of Music and Drama in Munich, she completed a second course in 2015 with a master's degree in “Historical Performance Practice", Major subject - baroque violin. She supplemented her studies with master courses with Bernhard Forck and Midori Seiler, among others. As a violinist, she traveled to the USA, Central and South America, Israel and several European countries with the Austrian chamber orchestras Arpeggione and Salzburg Chamber Soloists. From 2006 to 2014 she played 1st violin in the Georgian Chamber Orchestra Ingolstadt. With her piano trio Trio con Moto, she inspired the audience with programs such as “Tango Nuevo” or “L'Histoire du Soldat”.
In the last two years the violinist has given concerts in Venice, Paris, Berlin, Vienna, Munich, Augsburg, Salzburg and other cities with ensembles such as the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin (AKAMUS), Forum Alte Musik Augsburg (FAMA), Concerto Munich, Hofkapelle Munich , Ensemble Phoenix Munich and with her, together with Dr. Franz Hauk founded, Concerto de Bassus. She played under the direction of Jordie Savall, René Jacobs and others.
She participated in various CD productions. As concertmaster of the Concerto de Bassus, she recorded more than 20 CDs for the NAXOS label.
Theona Gubba-Chkheidze's repertoire is wide. She plays as a soloist, concert master or chamber musician on the modern and the baroque violin.
