Each event begins with a tour in the Bavarian National Museum related to the concert theme, continues with a one hour concert and then a catered reception where the audience can talk about the program and meet the artist.

About Joachim Held: 

ECHO Klassik 2006

The lutenist and theorbo player Joachim Held received his musical education at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with Eugen Dombois and Hopkinson Smith. In 1990 Joachim Held won the second prize at the "Concours Musica Antiqua" of the Flanders Festival in Bruges. Since then he began an intensive international concert activity as a soloist, chamber musician and continuo player. Joachim Held has played regularly since 1993 ("L incoronazione di Poppea" as part of the Salzburg Festival) under the direction of Nikolaus Harnoncourt. In 2004, he participated in his production of the "King Arthur" by Henry Purcell in the context of the Salzburg Festival. Since 1992, Joachim Held has participated in a variety of concerts and recordings of Giardino Armonico, in close collaboration with Cecilia Bartoli. Since 2005 Joachim Held has regularly recorded solo CD s for Hänssler - Classic. In 2005 a selection of the "Schele Manuscript" from the year 1619 in cooperation with Radio DRS Zurich and a CD with works of Austrian Baroque composers for baroque lute "Pleasing Lute Lust" were published. For this CD Joachim Held received the Echo Klassik 2006 for the best solo recording for music of the 17th / 18th centuries. In 2013 he released his CD with lute works by Johann Sebastian Bach and in 2017 his latest CD with the early works of Silvius Leopold Weiss.

In addition to his intense concert activities, Joachim Held is a passionate teacher and holds professorships at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and at the University of the Arts in Bremen. Further information: www.joachim-held.de
